Let us write (Page 91)
1. Read how the bird perceived its world.
My world was small, round, and light blue at first. After that, my world was warm and comfortable. It was made of straw. In this world, I could only see leaves whenever I stepped out. In the end, my world became big. It had the sky and the earth as a part of it.
At first, the bird’s world was a small, round, blue shell. Then, it became a warm nest. Later, it saw leaves. Finally, its world became big, with the sky and earth.
2. Now, discuss with your teacher and classmates how you think the world would look to the following.
(a) a baby
(b) a fish
(a) Baby: My world is full of loving family members. They care for me, feed me, play with me, and make me feel safe and happy.
(b) Fish: My world is the water. I swim with my friends, find food, and stay close to my family while avoiding bigger fish and fishing nets.
3. Now, write five sentences each, for both (a) and (b), in your notebooks. You can take help from the example given in 1.
(a) Baby
1. I live with my loving family.
2. My mother takes care of me.
3. Everyone plays with me and loves me.
4. I get food, toys, and many hugs.
5. I feel safe and happy with my family.

4. I must stay away from big fish and fishing nets.
5. I love my watery home.
Let us explore (Page 91)
1. The bird’s first home was made of a shell. Later its home was among leaves and made of straw.
Look at your home carefully and make a list of all the materials it is made of.
My home is made of brick, cement, and iron.
Why do you think our homes are not made of straw?
We cannot make homes with straw because rain makes them wet and weak. Straw cannot hold our weight, and it can catch fire while cooking.
If you had to own a home of your choice, what would it look like and what materials would you like to use?
We use cement, bricks, wood, iron, etc. to build their homes.
How is a home different from a house? Discuss with your classmates and teacher.
A home is a place where you live comfortably with your family. A house is made of bricks or stones or mud. It is only a place for shelter.
Look at the list of some workers who build houses. Find out the work they do and write, as shown in the example. You can think of other workers and add them too.
Workers Their Work
Example: Mason Lays bricks and stones
| Workers | Their Work |
| Example: Mason | Lays bricks and stones |
| 1. Painter | Paints Walls |
| 2. Electrician | Electrical Connections |
| 3. Plumber | Fixes Taps and Waterpipes |
| 4. Carpenter | Makes Furniture |
| 5. Architect | Makes Plans of House |

2. Look at the different kinds of nests and homes the birds make. Have you seen any? Discuss these types of nests with your teacher and classmates.
Traditional Nest in a Tree
Description: A nest made of small sticks, leaves, and other plant parts. It is usually found on tree branches.
Birds: Robins, sparrows, and pigeons often make these nests.
Personal Observation: I have seen sparrows making nests between tree branches near my home.
Hanging Nest
Description: These nests hang from tree branches and are made of grass and other soft materials.
Birds: Weaver birds and orioles make these hanging nests.
Personal Observation: I find these nests interesting because they are carefully woven and hang from branches in green areas.
Cavity Nest
Description: A nest is made inside a hole in a tree trunk.
Birds: Woodpeckers, owls, and some parrots use these holes for their nests.
Personal Observation: These nests keep birds safe from enemies, rain, and strong winds.
Leaf Nest
Description: A nest made by joining or folding leaves together.
Birds: Tailorbirds and some warblers make these special nests.
Personal Observation: I find these nests interesting because birds use leaves cleverly and hide them among thick plants.
Discussion:
Types of Birds: We discussed which birds build different nests and how their nests suit their surroundings.
How They Build: We talked about how birds weave, stitch leaves, or use holes in trees to make nests.
This discussion helped me understand the different and interesting ways birds build homes for their young.
