1: My Favourite Fable
Aim
To read a fable, understand its moral, and learn the values it teaches.
Instructions
Read your favourite fable.
Write the title and the names of the main characters.
Retell the story in your own words.
Write the moral of the story.

Title: The Lion and the Mouse
Main Characters: Lion, Mouse
Story
A lion was sleeping peacefully in the forest. A little mouse accidentally ran over him and woke him up. The lion became angry and caught the mouse. The frightened mouse begged for mercy and promised to help the lion someday. The lion laughed at the idea but kindly let the mouse go. A few days later, the lion was trapped in a hunter's net. Hearing the lion's roar, the mouse rushed to help. It gnawed the ropes with its sharp teeth until the lion was free. The lion thanked the little mouse and realised that even the smallest friend can be a great helper.
Moral
Kindness is never wasted.
What I Learnt
This story teaches us to be kind and helpful to everyone. We should never judge others by their size or appearance because everyone has special abilities.
Activity
Draw the mouse cutting the hunter's net.
Conclusion
I enjoyed this story because it teaches us the values of kindness, gratitude, and friendship.
2: Animal Characters Chart
Aim
To identify the qualities of animals used in fables.
Instructions
Draw or paste pictures of the following animals. Write the quality each animal represents and name a famous fable in which it appears.

Aim

Ask your grandparents or an elder in your family to tell you a folk tale. Write the story in your own words.

Main Characters: Rabbit, Lion
Story
A lion frightened all the animals in the forest. Every day, one animal had to go to the lion as food. One day, it was a rabbit's turn. The rabbit reached the lion very late. It told the lion that another lion had stopped it on the way. The angry lion asked the rabbit to show him the other lion. The rabbit took him to a deep well. The lion looked into the well and saw his own reflection. Thinking it was another lion, he jumped into the well and drowned. The animals lived happily after that.
Moral
Wisdom is greater than strength.
What I Learnt
We can solve difficult problems by using intelligence instead of force.

Ask an elder to tell another folk tale.

4: Story Map
Aim
To understand the important parts of a story.
Instructions
Choose a fable and complete the story map.

Title: The Fox and the Grapes

Setting: A vineyard
Problem: The fox wanted to eat the grapes but could not reach them.
Solution: After many attempts, the fox gave up and said the grapes were sour.
Moral: It is easy to dislike what we cannot get.

5: Book of Morals
Aim
To collect important morals from different fables and folk tales.
Instructions
Prepare a small booklet by writing five morals and the stories from which they are learnt.

Write one moral that you follow in your daily life.
